You may choose to volunteer your time and expertise at Corning Children’s Center by working directly with our kids, or by supporting the organization. We encourage you to consider participating in the work of the Center in one or more of the following ways:
- Participate in a Special Project: There are many opportunities to help out on an ad hoc basis. We appreciate those who assist with our biannual grounds cleanup, facility improvement projects, special events, and program committees. We also encourage parents and community members with special talents and skills (such as art, music, science, and language) to consider donating their time in the classroom. If you wish to offer your services, we are open to exploring the possibilities!
- Serve on a Committee: The Center has established a number of ongoing committees to help support the work of the organization. These include: Finance, Fund Development, Communications, Human Resources, and Technology, to name a few. Special ad hoc committees are also created from time to time to help support specific, discrete projects and strategic initiatives.
- Join Our Board of Directors: The Board sets policy and oversees the operation, finances, and long-range planning for the Center. Directors are nominated by the current Board, and are elected to terms of office. The Board seeks to maintain a balance of skills, experience, and perspectives among its members.
- Become a Room Parent: Our room parents provide help and support to classroom staff in many ways, ranging from organizing social events and field trips to distributing information to other parents.
Because we take the trust that parents place in us very seriously, we take every precaution to ensure that the children in our care are safe. Therefore, it is our policy to conduct background checks on all individuals who interact with children or work regularly at Corning Children’s Center, including volunteers. Please understand that this policy is never intended as a personal affront, but rather a precaution to protect our children.
