While your infant is in our care, he/she will learn and explore his/her environment and the world around him/her through repeated exposures and opportunities presented while creating connections that will last a lifetime. We are committed to creating an environment that nurtures children’s confidence and fosters the development of their imagination.
At Corning Children’s Center, learning should be, and is fun! Our approach is to encourage children to experience exploration, learning, and accomplishment in a joyous and fulfilling way.
A typical day at a glance:
Curriculum- We address all aspects of children’s physical, cognitive, emotional, and social growth and learning through the use of HighScope COR. Each aspect plays a critical role in helping children to develop as whole human beings.
Feedings & nap time- Infants will develop a sense of security during bottle feedings when they bond with their primary caregiver. This individual time is used to practice and develop language skills through use of sign language and conversation between staff and infants. Small motor and self-help skills are also practiced at this time when they are learning to feed themselves.
Outside time- is a time where children can practice their large motor skills and explore the natural world. It can also be a time where the classrooms take walks around the neighborhood where the children can take in local sights and sounds.
Free play- this time gives the children a chance to explore their surroundings. Exploring will give children the opportunity to practice learning social and emotional skills, as well as, academic areas: math, science, literacy, language and small motor activities.
Teacher initiated opportunities- during your infant’s day teachers will offer opportunities for your child to explore art, sensory play, water play, and much more.
Please remember at the Corning Children’s Center, parent participation and partnership is encouraged.
